It was about time we caught up with Dorrell Merritt (about whom we posted here and here). The past few months he has been working on his graduation project, beautifully titled Weep Not By Day. Inspired, among others, by 17th century musician John Dowland, it aims to portray the feeling of melancholia and how it relates to the night. This approach is linked to the sorrow and sadness of young urban females, resulting in a very intimate and beautiful series.

Weep Not By Day will be on display as part of the graduation exposition exposure24 at the Lanchester Gallery in Coventry, UK from 1-10 June and in the Frameless Gallery in Clerkenwell Green from 18-24 June.
