My work is produced through a trial look at spaces that result from the intersection and overlap of a natural and artificial order. It arises through an ambulatory process in the city on a daily basis and more conected to architecture, but also in the most simple light or element in a private location.

This summer, with 5 friends of mine we went hiking in the Alps. Fog, wind, rain, snow, heavy bags & body aches… Exhausted, we were free.

How do you look back on the whole experience now?
This trip happened at a very particular moment of our lives, we were all kind of lost… studying, finding a job, a place to live…

This trip is the thing we think of when we’re bored of our daily life, I can’t explain it well in English… Leaving Paris, alone or with friends, to discover the nature, the others, and “ourselves” in hard conditions (of weather, sleep, alimentation,…) is very enlightening. Something like: going back to basics while our lives were becoming too complicated…

Did the trip bring you closer to each other?
Three years ago I had already gone hiking with two of them, the conditions were more difficult (it ended with a return by helicopter for one of the three of us). So I was already very close to these two. The other three also had gone hiking together, and we all knew each other for a long time (between 4 and more than 10 years).

Yes, it brought us even closer, we were all more authentic. When every day you need to find where to sleep and a water point you are necessarily less superficial. The important thing though – I think – is not just that it brought us closer, it’s mainly that it has made us know ourselves better, in relationship to each other but also to ourselves.

Why did you decide to photograph it?
For Glory! Between the six of us I think I’m the one who feels most comfortable in nature. Nature really is something that fascinates me. I think I photographed it because that’s what I consider to be real life: a real set, real actors, real sensations. I want my life to be like that, hiking every day.

In recent years, I only feel the need to take pictures when I’m in the woods or in the mountains. I did not explain it really… I’ve always struggled to talk about my pictures (if I take photos it is surely to express what I can not say (?)).

I want them to look back ten, twenty or even fifty years from now and reflect on the specific moment that was shared between them and I. [...] I get inspired from my close friends, a desire to explore, and a documentary style of photography.
